Research period:
The main objective of the program is advanced training in constructionist-based research in fields related to Arts and Education. Since the program is grounded in research lines associated with consolidated research groups and ongoing projects, secondary objectives arise from the aims of these groups and research projects. Therefore, the research lines of the program address the following specific objectives.
Arts education and visual culture
Develop research projects in different educational settings around issues related to experiences of subjectivity mediated by visual representations and the multiple perspectives and interpretations related to the arts and visual culture.
Cultural pedagogies in heritage, museums and exhibition spaces
Develop research projects on institutional cultures and the discursive practices arising from their cultural pedagogies.
Art, educational intervention and social transformation
Develop research projects linked to different educational environments exploring the relationships between proposed interventions and their emancipatory effects.
Artistic research methodologies: Arts-based educational research
Develop research projects using documentation and interpretation strategies rooted in the arts, exploring knowledge derived from the resulting visual narratives.
Comparative education: multicultural, ecological and inclusive approaches to art education
Develop research projects that connect artistic education proposals with multicultural, ecological, and inclusion-related issues. Collaborate with different educational professionals and define educational interventions based on classroom observation.
Cultural and educational policies based on the interpretation of heritage, museums and art centers
Create projects and transfer knowledge at both local and international levels. Collaborate with cultural institutions and related groups within the university and with international partners such as CECA-ICOM, Forum UNESCO and ICOMOS.
Students must present and defend their thesis proposal before a designated committee during the first six months of their participation in the program.
